Cookson Group is to sell further non-core businesses to raise £45m ($65.3m) to support its four main product divisions: electronic materials, ceramics, engineered products and plastics. Minneapolis-based Spectrum Colours, producer of colour concentrates for plastics manufacture, is being sold to Sandoz Chemicals. The Industrial Precision Castings business has already gone to Charles Baynes for £1.8m, along with some manufacturing assets. Agreement has also been reached on the sale of Cookson's 80% stake in IST Laboratories, developer of specialist integrated circuits. It is also selling its US speciality plastics compounding businesses - Monmouth Plastics and Texapol - to MA Hanna.
