RHÔNE-POULENC RORER Q1 sales declined 5% to $871m from $916m as lower demand for influenza products in France and government measures in Japan and Italy offset strong growth in the global Armour business and increased sales in Germany and the North American prescription business.
Net income fell 21.8% to $73.7m from $94.2m. Company president Robert Cawthorn said the group was 'reviewing a restructuring programme designed to reduce certain costs'. The cost of the programme 'is likely to be material to the 1994 results'.
