Monsanto's GD Searle pharmaceuticals subsidiary is looking for alliances and 'other related actions' that would provide cost savings, expanded access to new products and a larger market presence, Monsanto chairman and ceo Richard Mahoney told analysts recently. Searle has already revamped its R&D activities to focus rigorously on the most promising product candidates.
