Hoechst CeramTec operating profit rose to DM0.5m in 1993 from an operating loss of DM14.3m in 1992 on sales that declined by just under 1% to DM244.9m. The Hoechst ceramics subsidiary attributes the turnaround to its cost cuts and a slight upturn in earnings of subsidiaries. The company said the outlook for 1994 is 'muted'. However, ongoing cost controls are expected to result in further improvements to the bottom line.
