Rhône-Poulenc Thai Industries, an R-P specialities division/Osothsapha group jv, has brought onstream its 20 000 tonne/year surfactants unit at Bangpoo, Thailand. The $10m investment is the first of its kind to be undertaken by the R-P division in Southeast Asia, complementing the French player's anionic surfactants unit in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, China. The Bangpoo startup will make Thailand a major regional speciality surfactants player.
