International chemicals group United Phosphorus

International chemicals group United Phosphorus has completed the acquisition of the $33m business of MTM Agriculture to create a new force in the European crop protection industry (ECN 1 August). Following shareholders' approval, MTM, based in Warrington, UK, has become the European headquarters of United Phosphorus and will offer an enlarged and improved product range. The deal is UPL's first investment in manufacturing facilities outside India and represents a substantial commitment to increasing its presence internationally. The new business will trade as UP Europe.
