Dutch plant biotech firm Mogen has demonstrated resistance in carrots to multiple fungal species, claiming an advance over the single resistance produced with conventional breeding techniques. Recent trials with carrots genetically engineered with genes from the tobacco plant showed resistance to powdery mildew as well as Cercospora and two species of Alternaria.
