US speciality chemical producer Avery Dennison has sought permission from the Indian government to float a wholly owned subsidiary to manufacture its products either directly or through joint ventures. The company is looking to invest US$10m in the proposed holding company over five years. The Indian venture will initially market Avery products in India. Its chemicals division produces emulsion-based acrylic polymer adhesives, protective coatings and binders.
