TEC/Sinopec in retrofit deal

Toyo Engineering (TEC) has concluded a contract with China Petrochemical International (Sinopec) for a retrofit of a 100 000 tonne/year methanol plant. The plant, located in Chongqing City, Sichuan province, is operated by Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Works and has a nameplate capacity of 140 000 tonne/year.

The plant is due to come onstream in 30 months time and work on the basic design package has begun.

The Japanese contractor will also be responsible for equipment procurement, construction supervision and commissioning of the plant.
