THAI Caprolactam expects to begin commissioning Thailand's first 70 000 tonne/year caprolactam plant in June. It hopes to reach commercial production by October or November, a company source told ACN.

The company will import cyclohexane feedstock and has already signed a long-term supply agreement with Mobil Singapore for half of its requirement. It is still negotiating with a second supplier for the remaining half.

Product sales will be targeted at the Thai market. Some buyers have already signed up for contract supply. The country's caprolactam demand for nylon fibre and resin production exceeds the plant's production capacity.
