Hüls is revamping its existing ethylbenzene plant in Marl, Germany. Conversion to a zeolite alkylation process is being implemented. Capacity will be upped by 60 000 tonne/year to 420 000 tonne/year. In addition, the dehydrogenation plants processing ethylbenzene to styrene will also be debottlenecked resulting in a 60 000 tonne/year expansion of styrene to 380 000 tonne/year (ECN 17 June).
