Nippon Steel Chemical is expected to post a net loss of Yen16.2bn (US$147m) for H1 1996 to 31 September, reflecting a nonrecurring loss of the same size generated by the dissolution of six bankrupt affiliates. The company plans to shut down more loss-making subsidiaries in H2. Full-year nonrecurring losses should total Yen45bn.
