Asahi Glass and Mitsubishi Corp are the potential minority shareholders of the Malaysian chloralkali and ethylene dichloride (EDC) project in Kerteh, Terengganu. The majority shareholders will be Petronas and Chemical Co of Malaysia. The first-phase feasibility study for the 240 000 tonne/year chlorine, 540 000 tonne/year caustic soda and 330 000 tonne/year EDC project has been completed. An announcement is expected by February. The facility is expected to start up by end-1999.
