As the largest player in the used equipment market, Universal Process Equipment of New Jersey has an extensive range of equipment on its books, as Alan Tyler reports.
Universal Process Equipment (UPE), based at Robbinsville, New Jersey, US, claims to be the world's largest surplus machinery/process equipment dealer. The company can supply entire manufacturing facilities, processes, or single pieces of equipment to the process industries worldwide.
It stocks over 35 000 pieces of quality new, rebuilt and used process equipment in its inventory, which is available for immediate delivery worldwide. 'We buy plants, processes, and individual pieces of equipment,' said UPE. 'We provide removal of the equipment and can follow through with demolition as required.'
UPE stocks equipment at a dozen satellite yards worldwide, and has offices in the UK, Germany, Poland, Russia, China, Mexico and the Czech Republic. Its technical staff are qualified to assist in the areas of centrifugal separation, filtration, evaporation, refrigeration, drying, size reduction, plastics, glass-lined, waste, and waste minimisation equipment.
There are various other parts of the UPE group, which together offer a comprehensive equipment service. Ayton Equipment specialises in the European market and is the largest dealer in surplus process equipment in the region. It stocks a large inventory of surplus and remanufactured process equipment, and has expertise in the areas of filtration, evaporation, centrifugal separation, drying and glass-lined equipment.
R Simon Dryers is a supplier of new and rebuilt dryers, specialising in drum dryers, drum flakers, steam tube (dryers, rotary cascade and rotary louvre dryers and coolers, cobra vibratory fluid bed processors, calciners, spray dryers and customised dryers. Simon also has laboratory and testing facilities.
The Bethlehem Corp supplies new dryers and specialised equipment and has facilities for the remanufacture of drum dryers, rotary dryers, belt filter presses, horizontal and rotary vacuum filters, turbines, compressors, pumps, boilers, crushers, pulverisers, centrifuges, and other process equipment.
Universal Industrial Refrigeration supplies vapour recovery systems, and new and rebuilt chillers, as well as low-temperature refrigeration systems, industrial refrigeration systems, and hazardous waste volume reduction systems. Universal Envirogenics supplies new and rebuilt air separation systems, including a full line of cryogenic and industrial gas systems for customers that have polluting off gases and vapours as a result of their manufacturing processes. Speciality gas plants are also available.
Finally, Universal Glasteel Equipment (UGE), supplies reconditioned and used glass-lined reactors and vessels. UGE is a partnership between UPE and Pfaudler to provide high quality reglassed and used reactors and vessels. The alliance builds on Pfaudler's ability to provide high quality services in major markets with UPE's ability to secure used equipment throughout the world.
UPE is constantly adding to its portfolio through a programme of acquisitions and plant liquidations.
Among UPE's recent projects are: a dye and pigment plant liquidation; a new pharmaceutical equipment liquidation; a speciality chemical plant liquidation; a complete calcining plant; air separation plants; formaldehyde plants; hydrogen plants; petrochemical plants; and pharmaceutical and fine chemical facilities.
One hot item on UPE's books is a complete petrochemical plant comprising a 125mm Krauss Maffei HZ125, 316 SS Peeler Centrifuge, 11 graphite heat exchangers from 10m2 to 3m2, 19 glass lined reactors from 8000 litres to 300 litres, a 20 000 litre stainless steel reactor, two Nickel reactors from 5900 litres to 3000 litres, 22 glass-lined tanks from 16 000 litres to 130 litres, and two stainless steel tanks from 2500 litres to 1200 litres.
