March glycerine startup

Jayant Agro Organics (JAO) expects to start up its 5 tonne/day (1650 tonne/year) glycerine plant by March 1997. The Rs170m (US$4.7m) plant is the second phase of the company's forward-integration programme. JAO is owned by the Rs3bn Jayant Group. It already makes refined castor oil, hydrogenated castor oil and fatty acids, mainly for exports. It reported sales of Rs719m in 1995-96, producing 13 106 tonne of castor oil and 10 177 tonne of hydrogenated castor oil.
