Carbide project pick

UNION Carbide is close to selecting a project management consultant (PMC) and has also shortlisted the olefins technology suppliers for its Malaysian project.

Chief executive officer-designate of the derivatives joint venture Robert Kisker said bids for the PMC contract are being evaluated and work on the olefins invitation to bid package is ongoing.

The joint-venture 600 000 tonne/year cracker and derivatives project with Petronas is expected to come onstream in early- to mid-2001 in Kampung Tok Arun and Kerteh, both of which are in Terengganu.
