Huntsman and RWE-DEA's subsidiary Condea Chemie have confirmed the go-ahead of their joint venture to increase capacity of maleic anhydride (MA). The venture known as Condea-Huntsman will combine Condea's existing European facilities with new plant and Huntsman's facility in the US, the largest in the world.
In mid-1999 Condea-Huntsman will bring on line a new 40 000 tonne/year MA plant at Condea's Moers-Meerbeck site in Germany. Huntsman's managing director in Europe Colin Jones said Condea-Huntsman, headquartered in Moers, has completed basic engineering and ordered new equipment for the facility.
* Meanwhile, Rexene, the target for Huntsman's acquisition plans, announced it is extending the expiry date of its Dutch-auction tender offer for its stock to 19 June from 29 May.
