ADM sticks to its gums

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the US cereal processing company, has developed xanthan gums for use in water-based paints and coatings. The advantages of xanthan gum are its highly pseudoplastic flow and good suspension properties, even at low concentrations of 0.5% or less, making it suitable as a thickener and flow control agent.
