Akzo buys in Taiwan

Akzo Nobel subsidiary Eka Chemicals Sweden has acquired the Asia Colloids & Chemicals Taiwanese joint venture of PQ Corp and Zenith Corp. Eka said it plans to lift 'considerably' the 5000 tonne/year capacity for colloidal silica. The move gives Eka an Asian production and market presence for colloidal silica. The company has supplied the Asian market from its US and European facilities.
