Riedel-de Haën, an AlliedSignal subsidiary, is to invest DM10m ($5.8m) in the production of electronic chemicals.

The company, based in Sealze, Germany, will use newly developed purification technology to produce ultra-high purity ammonia, ammonium fluoride, hydrofluoric acid and buffered oxide etchants.

The company has begun construction of a plant at Seelze and expects the plant to come onstream some time during next year.

The ultra-high purity chemicals will be aimed at the growing semiconductor industry.

Riedel-de Haën has already produced first batches of the ultra-pure chemicals at pilot-plant scale.
