The lobby group PVC Information Council has hailed the UK government's decision to go ahead with the Millennium Dome project as 'a stunning endorsement of the benefits of PVC as a building material, not just for the 20th but the 21st century'. The £580m ($930m) dome will require £7m of PVC-coated polyester. Greenpeace says the PVC-based material is a fire hazard.
