Showa breaks ground in Indo

Showa Esterindo Indonesia has broken ground for its ethyl acetate plant in Merak, West Java, Indonesia. The 50-70 000 tonne/year plant is to start up at end-1998 or early 1999 and will be the world's first commercial plant to use Showa Denko's new technology. The new technology produces ethyl acetate directly from acetic acid and Ethylene, bypassing the intermediate acetaldehyde step.
