Chemicals boost SNPE's 1997 results

French defence company SNPE benefited in 1997 from the strength of its chemical division, which pushed net profits up from FF39m ($6.3m) to FF50m on consolidated sales up 6.3% to FF4.8bn. Operating profits for chemicals over the year advanced 53% to FF153m on sales that increased 14% to FF2.2bn for the division.
