Indonesia's financial crisis has taken a toll on Globechem Pacific Perkasa (GPP) and Justus Sakti Raya Corp (JSRC), forcing the the two companies to slow down construction work for their maleic anhydride projects.

GPP's 20 000 tonne/year plant in Merak, West Java, is expected to be delayed by at least a year, ACN was told. The facility, which uses Huntsman technology, was supposed to start up at end-1998.

JSRC cannot pin down the new startup schedule for its 14 000 tonne/year plant in Jakarta. The plant was supposed to start up in Q3 1997. The facility uses Lonza technology (ACN 18 Nov 1996, p16).
