MEXICO CITY (CNI)--Mexico's Grupo Celanese Mexicana invested $24m in the first quarter, principally for expansion and maintenance projects in its packaging and fibre businesses, the company said Thursday.
Among its projects under way, Celanese is currently relocating its Cosoleacaque, Veracruz acrylate plant to the Cangrejera petrochemical complex, also located in Veracruz. Celanese said that project should be completed in September.
In addition the company said it is completing the expansion of its esters plants in the Cangrejera and Celaya, Veracruz complexes.
Grupo Celanese said it also began the expansion of its PET plant in Queretaro during the first quarter.
The company reported that its fibres plants were operating at 97% of total installed capacity, its chemical products plants were operating at 88% and its packaging and bottle producing plants were running at 89% installed capacity.
