MGC starts up PX

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical started up a 230 000 tonne/year paraxylene plant in Mizushima, Japan, last month. Commercial production is expected by early August. The plant will supply a 250 000 tonne/year Mitsubishi Gas Chemical and Toyobo Co joint-venture purified terephthalic acid plant in Mizushima, which started up in mid-1997.
