PCS Opens Next Gen Ammonia Plant in Trinidad

The first of a new generation of grassroots ammonia plants to incorporate the Kellogg Advanced Ammonia Process (KAAP) technology recently completed its performance test for PCS Nitrogen Trinidad Ltd. in Point Lisas, Trinidad. During the test, the 2,040-short-ton-per-day ammonia plant met or exceeded the companyÕs performance requirements.

The PCS Nitrogen-Train 4 ammonia plant is one of two world-class ammonia facilities recently built by M.W. Kellogg Company that incorporate the companyÕs KAAP technology. KAAP uses a non-iron catalyst that is as much as 20 times as active as traditional iron catalysts. It manufactures ammonia more efficiently and consumes a minimum amount of natural gas during production.
