SINGAPORE (CNI)--South Korea's LG Chemicals plans to make India its second Asian manufacturing base after China, CNI learned Thursday.
LG Chemicals (India) director Simon Shim said India would be a strategic base for the company in future. "We aim to expand our markets into the Middle East and Eastern Europe and we'll do so from India," he added.
The company's initial entry into the Indian market, now under way, is limited to consumer care products such as diapers, detergents and fabric softeners.
Shim added that "in the near future", the company plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
