AlliedSignal has signed an agreement to license one of its patented laminate technologies to GE Electromaterials, a subsidiary of General Electric.

The non-exclusive licence includes GE's CEM-1 and FR-4 laminate products which utilise phenolic novolac curing agents. Terms of the patent licence agreement were not announced.

AlliedSignal's patented technology enables manufacturers to produce laminate with good thermal stability characteristics at a competitive price. The technology also has applications for higher end multi-layer products, such as low solvent and solvent-free systems.

'We want to ensure that our customers have access to a wide range of technology options, and by licensing this technology to other laminators we give our customers maximum flexibility,' said Steve Hochhauser, president of AlliedSignal Laminate Systems.
