American Oil Chemists Society is accepting nominations for its annual Samuel Rosen Memorial Award for contributions to the surfactants and detergents industry. The deadline for nominations is November 1.

Paul C. Porter, president and CEO of Clean Shower LP, has resigned. Mr. Porter was responsible for the advertising and marketing campaign that made Clean Shower the number-one daily shower cleaner in the US. The company has also added senior management recruited by Mr. Porter. Dale N. Garth is acting CEO, Robert A. Wallach is vice-president of global marketing and Grady W. Harris is technical director.

Dial Corporation intends to repurchase $75 million of its common stock over the next 12 months. "Any repurchased shares are expected to be used under employee benefit and stock option programs and for other general corporate purposes," says the company.

Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors Inc. will hold a cosmetic workshop in New York on October 22 at the Loews Hotel. The event is co-sponsored by the Food and Drug Administration.

"Many smaller firms do not know what resources are available to assist them in meeting their legal responsibilities. These ICMAD/FDA workshops provide this opportunity by presenting FDA's requirements in a non-threatening manner," says John Tisler, chief of FDA's industry activities section.
