HOUSTON (CNI)--Ashland Chemical said Tuesday it has been named exclusive nationwide marketer and distributor for Marathon Ashland Petroleum's (MAP) aliphatic and aromatic solvents.
Dublin, Ohio-based Ashland Chemical holds a 38% share in MAP, a joint venture refining company with Marathon Oil. Neither company would reveal the financial value of the distribution contract or the volume of solvents involved.
Under the terms of the distribution contract, Ashland will be the sole marketer of aliphatic and aromatic solvents - except for non-exempt mineral spirits - produced at MAP's Catlettsburg, Kentucky refinery.
Aliphatic and aromatic solvents are used in the paints and coatings, adhesives, inks, resin manufacturing, and general chemical manufacturing processes. Ashland Chemical is the largest distributor of chemicals and plastics in North America.
MAP is based in Findlay, Ohio.
