LONDON (CNI)--BP and Amoco said the merger of the two companies was completed shortly after 21:00 (GMT) on Thursday when the shares of the new group BP Amoco plc were listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
BP Amoco American depository shares (ADS) will be listed and traded on the New York, Pacific, Chicago and Toronto stock exchanges.
Trading in the shares of the new merged group will begin on Monday 4 January.
BP shares are also traded on the stock exchanges in France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Trading in the new BP Amoco shares will be introduced progressively at these exchanges during the week beginning 4 January.
With a market capitalisation of over $140bn, BP Amoco is Britain’s biggest company and the world third largest oil major.
