18 January 1999 00:00 [Source: ICB Americas]Under the leadership of its new company president Rodney Jagai, Trinidad and Tobago's state-owned refiner Petrotrin is seeking a variety of private sector partners to help it develop chemicals ranging from ethylene to caustic soda. According to Anthony Deyal, a company spokesman, Petrotrin is in an expansion period thanks to the county's increased production and reserves of natural gas.
Mr. Jagai, who took office last November, is attempting to develop joint-venture partnerships to produce a host of downstream products from the company's Point-a-Pierre refinery.
Potential products for such ventures include ethylene, butylene, propylene, methanol, ammonia, acetic acid, caustic soda and various petrochemicals, according to the Tourism and Industrial Development Company, a state investment agency in Port of Spain.
