Koppers Industries of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, has partnered China's Tangshan Iron and Steel (TISCO) to revamp and operate a coal tar distillation plant in Tangshan, Hebei province. Koppers will hold 60% in the joint venture, Koppers China, and willprovide capital and technical assistance to upgrade the facility. Koppers China will also build a marine terminal at the port of Jingtang. The new company expects to begin carbon pitch exports to world marketsby quarter four 2000.
