LONDON (CNI)--Kemira's supervisory board has approved the fertiliser joint venture between Kemira Agro and the Arab Potash Company in Aqaba, Jordan, the Finnish company revealed Wednesday.
The 50:50 joint venture will invest Euro90m ($94m) in a new potassium nitrate and dicalcium phosphate plant, due onstream in April/June 2001, Tauno Pihlava, president of Kemira Agro, confirmed to CNI.
The plant will produce 150 000 tonne/year of potassium nitrate and 75 000 tonne/year of dicalcium phosphate using Jordanian raw materials and ion exchange technology licensed by Kemira Agro's Danish subsidiary. Kemira said the products will be marketed through its global distribution network.
Annual net sales by the new company are estimated at Euro60m.
