Cargill's salt division plans to open a salt processing, packaging, warehousing and bulk operation in the Port of Tampa, Fla. The company says the new facility will help it to better serve its retail, grocery and industrial customers in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas and the Carolinas. Cargill expects to begin operating the Tampa facility in early 2000.
Wiring Board Consultancy
Fein-Line Associates, a new consultancy focused on the printed wiring board industry and headquartered in Newport Beach, Calif., has been formed by Dan Feinberg, formerly president of Morton Electronic Materials. The company will begin operating on September 1. ShipleyRonal will be its first client.
Air Liquide Division Relocates
Air Liquide America is relocating its electronics packaging and assembly (EP&A) division from Grand Prairie, Tex., to Countryside, Ill. The company says the move will enable it to react faster to customer requests, shortening the solution delivery cycle and improving service. The EP&A division focuses on PCB assemblers, semiconductor packaging and microelectronics manufacturers.
Jevic Expands Coverage
Jevic Transportation Inc. is now offering consistent three-day service out of New England and the Northeast to numerous points in Florida. The company is also promoting its two-day service from the Southeast to Houston. Jevic says customer demand has led it to concentrate on these two lanes.
Sun Chem Renames Center
Sun Chemical Corporation has renamed its Carlstadt Technical Center as the Daniel Carlick Technical Center. The dedication was held in honor of Mr. Carlick's 35 years of service with Sun Chemical. While managing the technical center, Mr. Carlick developed alcohol-soluble polyamide inks, and energy-reactive materials for the graphic arts industry.
BASF Picks P.B.&S.
P.B.&S. Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Brenntag Inc., headquartered in Henderson, Ky., has been selected as a distributor for BASF Performance Chemicals. BASF says P.B.&S. will augment its current distribution in the Southeast and the central US.
Dow Launches Website Dow Chemical Company has launched www.dowcaustic.com. The company says the site offers reliable and timely caustic soda information 24 hours a day. In addition, the site provides secure online caustic soda ordering capabilities for customers in the US. The site also contains application charts, safety and handling guidelines, and sales specifications. Elf Reaches Milestone Elf Atochem North America Inc.'s Crosby, Tex., facility has had 3 million hours of safe operations. The accomplishment represents more than 16 years of work without an employee lost time injury.
