SINGAPORE (CNI)--Basell Eastern, the BASF-Shell Eastern Petroleum joint venture, will start up its 110 000 tonne/year polyols facility on Jurong Island here in H2 2002, CNI was told Friday.
A Shell communications officer said the polyols unit will be an integral part of Basell Eastern's $500m (Euro472m) investment in a styrene monomer/propylene oxide (SM/PO) facility.
Basell Eastern will produce 550 000 tonne/year of SM and 250 000 tonne/year of PO, using Shell's proprietary technology.
Shell has another, 85 000 tonne/year polyols unit on Jurong Island, managed by its subsidiary Seraya Chemicals Singapore.
