Air Products starts ops at $80m US Carson hydrogen unit

SINGAPORE (CNI)--US chemicals and industrial gases major Air Products and Chemicals Inc has started up its new, 100m standard cubic feet (3m cubic metre)/day hydrogen plant in Carson, California.

The $80.0m (Euro82.4m) Carson plant supplies the refining operations of Equilon Enterprises LLC - a joint venture between Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc and Shell Oil Products Co - as well as Arco Products Co, with high-purity hydrogen, the company said in a statement Thursday.

The plant is the fourth hydrogen production facility commissioned by Air Products for West Coast refiners since 1993.
