LONDON (CNI)--TotalFina and Elf Aquitaine on Friday detailed the organisation of their combined chemicals activities when the two groups merge later this year, and said Elf's chemicals subsidiary Elf Atochem will be renamed Atofina.

Francois Cornelis, currently vice chairman of TotalFina's executive committee with responsibility for petrochemicals, paints and US activities, will be appointed executive vice president and president of the chemicals division.

Francois Perier, Atochem's chief operating executive officer, will become vice president of the chemicals division and a member of the group's executive committee on 31 March, when Jacques Puechal retires. With Cornelis, Puechal will head the chemicals division until his retirement. He is currently Atochem's executive vice president.
