Air Products specialties for Wacker Silitronic S'pore unit

SINGAPORE (CNI)--Air Products and Chemicals Inc (AP), the US chemicals and gases specialist, said Tuesday that its Singapore subsidiary, Air Products Singapore Pte Ltd, will supply all industrial and specialty gas requirements for Wacker Silitronic Singapore Pte Ltd's new hyperpure silicon wafer plant.

Wacker Silitronic, an arm of Germany's Wacker Chemie GmbH, is a producer and supplier of hyperpure silicon to the global semiconductor industry. Its Singapore plant has the capacity to produce 250 000 polished and epitaxial 200mm silicon wafers monthly.

AP will supply Wacker nitrogen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, argon, ultra-high purity oxygen, helium silane, diborane/hydrogen, hexafluoroethane, ammonia and nitrous oxide, AP said in a statement.

Most of the industrial gases will be sourced from AP's air separation unit on Singapore's chemical hub of Jurong Island, while the specialty gases will come from AP's US facilities as well as its Showa Denko Air Products joint venture in Kawasaki, Japan.
