SEI ethyl acetate unit at 76% output, meets export demand

JAKARTA (CNI)--Showa Esterindo Indonesia (SEI) is running its 55 000 tonne/year ethyl acetate unit in Merak, East Java, at 76% capacity since restarting operations last October after a prolonged maintenance shutdown, CNI was informed Friday.

About 60% of the 14 000 tonne output produced since were exported to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

SEI - a 51:14:30:5 joint venture between Japan's Showa Denko (Shoden)and Tomen Corp, Indonesia's PT Adiguna Eka Sentra and Singapore's Chin Leong Corp - uses Shoden technology, which synthesises acetic acid with ethylene.
