LONDON (CNI)--Shell/BASF polyethylene (PE) joint venture Elenac is to close two small low density polyethylene (ldPE) lines at Berre in the south of France after its new worldscale ldPE plant at Aubette is commissioned.

The 320 000 tonne/year capacity plant at Aubette, also in the south of France, is due onstream around the beginning of July.

A spokeswoman for Elenac in Ludwigshafen, Germany said production workers at the Berre ldPE plant would be transferred to Aubette. The Berre ldPE lines each have an annual capacity of about 55 000 tonne.
