SINGAPORE (CNI)--The Dow Chemical Co plans to bring onstream in 2002 its 22 000 tonne/year styrene/butadiene latex plant in Zhangjiagang, China, CNI was informed Thursday.
Output from the plant will go to China's coated paper and paperboard markets, according to Lian Cheong, Dow's Asia Pacific director for emulsion polymer.
Construction of the unit started in early March, he added. It is one of 19 such manufacturing facilities Dow has worldwide.
The latex plant is located next to Dow's polystyrene (PS) operations at Zhangjiagang. SAL Petrochemical (Zhangjiagang) Co Ltd, a Dow-Asahi Chemical Industry joint venture, is currently building a 120 000 tonne/year PS plant there, due onstream in 2002.
