BASF has announced price increases for a range of chemical products.
Prices of special intermediates are rising by 10%, effective 1 April. This includes acid chlorides, chloroformates, alcoholates, glyoxal, glutaraldehyde, imidazoles and triphenylphosphine.
Effective 1 April, BASF is also increasing prices in Germany for some of its technical-grade nitrogen products. Ammonia prices will rise by E26/tonne, ammonium chloride by E8/tonne, nitric acid by E13/tonne and urea by E26/tonne. The company states prices hikes for feedstock natural gas and 'unsatisfactory proceeds' as the main drivers.
Solvents and plasticiser prices are also set to rise in Europe with prices for butanol, butyl acetate, butyl glycol and methoxypropanol rising by E100/tonne with immediate effect.
The price of the plasticiser DEHP (di-2-ethyhexylphthalate) will also be increased to E820/ tonne, effective 1 April, reflecting rises in ethylene and propylene, according to BASF.
