LONDON (CNI)--Anglo-American oil and chemicals giant BP said Monday that its Yangtze River Acetyls Co (Yaraco) joint venture has submitted a feasibility study for its acetate esters project in China to the Chongqing Municipal Government.
The 80 000 tonne/year ethyl and butyl acetate project, which BP announced officially for the first time today, is due onstream during the first half of 2002. No financial details were disclosed.
Located in Chuanwei, Chongqing, the plant will be fully integrated into Yaraco's existing 200 000 tonne/year acetic acid facility at the site. It will supply the growing Chinese esters market and substitute imports, said BP.
Yaraco is a 51:44:5 joint venture between BP, Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Works and Chongquing Investment and Construction Co.
