LONDON (CNI)--The underlying factors determining current petrochemicals development and its long-term growth will be explored at Tecnon Consulting World Network's annual petrochemicals conference which opens in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Thursday (28 September).
Organised by Tecnon (UK), the two-day Petchem 2000 conference sets out to review the factors essential for the future success of the petrochemicals industry.
Divided into eight sessions, the conference will begin with a key petrochemical driver - fibre and fibre intermediates - and will continue with opportunities and prospects in methanol, high performance films and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The second day will focus on econometric models and chemicals demand, propylene and polypropylene (PP) prospects, restructuring, expansion in monoethylene glycol (MEG), Iranian petrochemical prospects, and opportunities in butanediol (BDO) and methyl methacrylate (MMA). It will conclude with a forum on e-commerce.
The conference takes place at a time of extreme volatility in energy pricing and, as a consequence, almost unprecedented uncertainty over feedstock costs and chemical product prices.
It precedes the annual European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting, also in Monte Carlo, which runs from Sunday through Tuesday (1-3 October).
