US clears merger

The US Federal Trade Commission has finally approved the merger of Shell and BASF's polyolefins in Europe. The 50:50 project, called Basell, consists of Montell (100% Shell), Elenac (50:50 Shell:BASF) and Targor (100% BASF). With startup early October, Shell says Basell will be based in Hoofddorp, near Amsterdam.
