Omnexus, the online exchange for plastic injection moulders set up by BASF, Bayer, Dow, DuPont and Ticona/Celanese, has launched phase one of its web site.

Yaarit Silverstone, interim cExchange goes liveeo of Omnexus, said: 'Less than six months ago this site was just a concept. Today, we're open for business. This is tangible proof of our commitment to deliver on our vision, and Omnexus is excited to go live on the date forecasted.'

The site will allow customers to search for a specific resin based on its physical properties.

Other services to follow shortly include processing transactions, request for quotes, and an online invoice and payment system.

The e-marketplace is currently in the hands of Andersen Consulting until the appointment of a 'neutral' management team.
