Roche's vitamins and fine chemicals division and its Chinese partner Shanghai New Asiatic Pharmaceuticals Ltd. have opened a new manufacturing plant for vitamin B6 in Shanghai. The joint venture plant, which was built at a cost of SF50 million ($27.9 million), will have an annual capacity of 1,000 tons, making it China's largest production facility for vitamin B6 and one of the world's largest. The plant will feature state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing processes.The new facility will supply the Chinese and international markets with vitamin B6. Roche's vitamins and fine chemicals group is represented in China by a holding company and six joint ventures having a total investment of more than $200 million.
