SINGAPORE (CNI)--Acordis will invest in further expanding output of its haemodialysis diapes membrane at its Membrana subsidiary in Wuppertal, Germany, CNI was informed Wednesday.

By mid-2001, Membrana will have sufficient capacity to supply diapes for 6m dialysers/year, equivalent to over 6% of the global market, Acordis said in a statement.

Membrana will invest more than Euro10.0m ($8.4m) and further expansion is planned, the statement added.

Diapes, introduced last year, is a new family of haemodialysis membranes.

According to Acordis, about 20% of haemodialysis patients are treated with Membrana products - a total of 20m treatments/year.
